While children were searching for Easter eggs over the weekend, local law enforcement was busy searching for drugs and bench warrants, jail records show ââespecially in Boyd and at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, records show.
The following people were locked up over the weekend. Anyone named in the lock-ups should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

⢠April D. Combs, 38, of Hazard, was booked Friday as a federal inmate on a first-degree promotion of contraband charge.
⢠Autumn A. Wallace, 20, of Ashland, was booked Friday on a harassing communications charge.
⢠John M. Kouns, 43, of Flatwoods, was booked Friday on a two probation violations and charges of first-offense simple possession of meth and shoplifting less than $500 in value.
Immigration, a public charge, and tax tyranny! On January 25th, 2020, the United States Supreme Court upheld the Trump Administrations public charge rule, allowing it to take effect. The rule, designed to protect American taxpayers from having to finance the economic needs of millions of immigrants flooding into the United States made it more difficult for them to acquire a green card and permanent residency should they use, or were found likely to use, taxpayer financed benefits such as food stamps, public housing and Medicaid, and thus becoming a public charge.
And why not have such a rule? As far back as our colonial period, laws were enacted to prohibit the immigration of individuals who might become a public charge. One such law forbid

DECATUR â Judah D. Tiarks was sent to prison for three years after a frenzied attack on a Decatur woman that police said left her with a partially collapsed lung.
Sworn Decatur Police affidavits had accused Tiarks of beating and kicking his 25-year-old girlfriend and also beating his own brother, whom he had accused of sleeping with his girlfriend before launching the Oct. 4 attack.
Tiarks had been pleading not guilty and the case was scheduled for a pretrial hearing March 24. However, records show Tiarks appeared in Macon County Circuit Court Feb. 19 and entered guilty pleas to charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and committing domestic battery while having a prior domestic battery conviction.
